Earth Hour 26 March 2011
26 March 2011 marked the second year Kamandalu Resort and Spa participated on the Earth Hour. We are proud to be able to partake in this important event.
The Earth Hour took place on the resort from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm
Before 8.30 pm the guests and staff of Kamandalu gathered around the pool area for an after dinner cocktail party. Nearby the pool, a colorful “60” shaped floating candle and flower centerpiece was prepared for the event.
As soon as the lights were dimmed, the presence of the lighted candles adorned the pool area, glowing for the next 60 minutes. One by one, each of the guests did the honor of lighting up the candles on the 60 shaped centerpiece.
But the guests of honor of the night came unexpectedly and we were honored to have his rare visit: A firefly!
His graceful and glowing entrance into the dimmed area impressed everybody present. It was an unexpected moment and we were lucky to have him joined us for the event.
After the departure of our guest of honor, we were excited to float the lit up 60 shaped candles to the pool. We were thrilled in what we did; not because of the beautiful floating 60 shaped candles, but because we believe that the small action we took, together with the rest of the world, we can give the next generation a better world to live in.
